Donald Owen Dellinger

 

Donald Owen Dellinger, 68, of Sunset Beach, NC, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Medical University of South Carolina.

Mr. Dellinger was born on November 17, 1943 in Washington, DC. He retired proudly from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 25 years of service in transportation. Following his retirement, he worked in the business sector for several years, and then in the US Civil Service in transportation logistics.

He was a past president of Rotary International on Guam, the Yokota Air Base Top 3, and a member of Chief's Groups at various bases, and of the National Defense Transportation Association. He was a well-known, respected leader and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His favorite pastime was the game of golf and he enjoyed winning bets with his golfing buddies.

Surviving are his wife, Yukie Uemura Dellinger; son, Donald Dellinger, and wife, Jean, of Washington, DC, daughter, Michelle Beard, and husband, Jeff, of Warner Robins, GA; brother, David Dellinger, and wife, Candica, of Catawba, NC; sister, Diane Smith, and husband, Thor, of Derwood, MD; and four grandchildren, Miranda & Alex Beard, Leilani & Noeleia Dellinger.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 17th in Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel.
