Bruce was a great trumpet player and valued friend. He touched many lives in very positive ways and he will be missed by his friends and classmates. Tom May (OHHS Class of 1959) and Mary Ann May
His sudden death was quite a shock to me. I had seen Bruce only a few months before at the 100 anniversary of the Maryland Bands and had talked him into joining the community band there. He kept up his playing far longer than most of us band geeks, and loved playing.
Bruce Robey was my friend, and I miss him. His enthusiasm for OHHS and the Class of '61, for music and the band, his passion for politics, his warmth and humor, his absolute honesty (one never doubted his position on any issue), and creativity--all boundless. We were all lucky to have such an extraordinary classmate, and I am blessed to have had such an versatile and wonderful friend. His accomplishments were many and impressive, and among them were many friendships.
To my friend Bruce. Who I have known for many years. Bruce was a special guy, had a dry since of humor, he also was the founder of the H Street Playhouse in D.C. had a printing business, and so many other talents. He printed the booklets for OHHS reunions many times. In my opinion Bruce and his wife Adele are two smart folks. They gave me the nickname of Rocky-Bob. I will miss Bruce and our Bamahas cruises.
We were neighbors, we were friends, we were bandmates under Bill Johnson's leadership. I never knew Bruce to be unkind. He was talented, funny, original, great to be around, and not a bad dancer (Thanks Adele for the dedication at the last reunion we attended). He was and is a gentleman.
