Merle Maines passed away on June 15, 2012.

His obituary below was published in the Charlotte Observer

on June 17, 2012.

 

Merle Dean Maines CONCORD - Merle Dean Maines, 70, of Concord, NC, passed away Friday June 15, 2012, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Merle was born on September 26, 1941 in Oxon Hill, MD to the late Merle David Maines and Mary Elizabeth Sheriff Maines. He was a retired Pastor. Merle was a graduate of Oxon Hill Senior High School in Oxon, MD, where he ran track. He attended East Carolina School of Ministry and Fire Training at Maryland University. He was a member of the Oxon Hill Voluntary Fire Dept. where his family had started the dept. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Cleveland Maines. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of almost 50 years, Barbara Ann Matthews Maines; sons, Morris (Amanda) and Keenan (Laura); daughter; Phyllis; grandchildren, Seth, Jeremy, Preston, Logan; great-grandson, Michael James. Family with receive friends on Monday June 18, 2012, from 6-9 PM at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville. Funeral services will be on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at 1PM in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Hill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. Friends can offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
